Last night, Wednesday, I hit up Buda Bar and City Hall.
- One guy, a very fast car, 24 cities, the biggest parties, the hottest clubs, and a thousand friends he has yet to meet. Be part of the adventure…

I was beginning to miss the Porsche! I took the two hour train from Zwolle down to Roosendaal to pick it up today. I walked a couple kilometers through the rain without an umbrella to get to the place. The driver’s side seat was destroyed in shipping. It hurts me to look at it.
After a couple hours of waiting I drove it to Amsterdam to get a security system installed by Xanne and the great guys at Protect Effect. It took a couple days, but it’s another requirement for the insurance. While I was in Amsterdam I got a quote from Porsche to fix the seat – $5000. Damn!

Wow, it was difficult finding car insurance for Europe. I called my US car insurance, Progressive. They said they did have European coverage. AAA insurance said the same thing. I called Geico, who works through AIG for European insurance, and they said that they wouldn’t cover a high-value sportscar.
Then I called a bunch of UK and Netherlands car insurance companies. The problem I kept running into was that they required the car to be registered in the country that they were based in. It took me forever to find a company that could insure my car, so in case you’re ever in need of one I’ll let you know who it is. The name of the company that provides european/international car insurance is Centraal Beheer. They’re cheap too! They are costing me half of what my US insurance costs, although I had to purchase a full year.
So the three main barriers in my search were that 1) the car couldn’t be a high-value car, 2) the car had to registered in the country of the insurance company, or 3) a full year of insurance had to be purchased. Let me know if you have any tips on this subject.

Hey, who would have guessed?? It just so happens that the second biggest party in Holland happens the weekend after Queen’s Day and it happens in Zwolle, where I took the train to see my Dad! It’s called Bevrijdingsdag, or Liberation Day. It’s a celebration of the Canadians and the US kicking the Germans out of The Netherlands in World War II. Here’s a link to the Bevrijdingsdag Festival website.

So I drank quite a bit again and met some crazy Dutch guys Marcel and Jaap. These guys’ specialty, apparently, was running on stages with the performing artists. So we took a couple practice runs, one on the techno stage and one on the main stage in the afternoon. For our grand finale we ran on stage with the biggest band in Holland, the headlining band De Dijk! You can hear the crowd go crazy when we jumped on stage.
I couldn’t pick up my car this week because the slackers over at Marlog car handling company are taking their sweet time unloading it – or at least they didn’t manage my expectations very well. Anyway, it looks like I’m going to skip my original itinerary of cruising through Germany and instead hang out with Dad in Zwolle.
